GPI Voluntary Guidelines on Effective Triangular Co-operation

      Following BAPA+40 and as a result of its work, The GPI advanced a set of Voluntary Guidelines grounded in evidence and in consultation with numerous GPI members. We have recently launched new material on the VGs. Check the new video available in Arabic, English, French and Spanish.

LAC-DAC Dialogue
On 2 and 3 December 2021 the OECD's Development Assistance Committee and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Peru hosted the 3rd LAC-DAC Dialogue, with more than 100 participants. The Meeting providing a platform to exchange knowledge and experiences to deepen collaboration and partnerships. Many partners highlighted the importance of triangular co-operation to achieve greater reach and impact of development initiatives.

High-Level Peer Review Forum on South-South and Triangular Cooperation
On 24 and 25 November 2021, the African Peer Review Mechanism hosted its first High Level Forum on South-South and Triangular Co-operation in Egypt. Participants reinforced the catalytic role triangular co-operation has in knowledge sharing, capacity building, and technology transfer.

[PPD & UNFPA Conference] Triangular cooperation post BAPA+40: A multi-stakeholder partnership for the achievement of ICPD and 2030 Agenda

 
The PPD and UNFPA hosted the 18th International Inter-Ministerial Conference on SSC in Population and Development. On 22 November 2021, the session on triangular co-operation offered a space to discuss the  takeaways from the High-Level Committee for South-South Cooperation and reflect on the future of triangular co-operation.

[Paris Peace Forum] Triangular Cooperation: Fostering partnerships between the South and the North
On 12 November 2021, Riad Ragueb Ahmed (IsDB), Neni Marlina (GIZ), Ana Fernandes (OECD), Govind Venuprasad (SITA, ITC) shared impressive examples and important reflections on triangular cooperation. The GPI core group member, Ms Fernandes, highlighted TrC is not only for the "big players", but it is for all interested in sharing knowledge and contributing to development.

[Paris Peace Forum] Achieving the SDGs: South-South and Triangular Co-operation in the Decade of Action
On 12 November 2021 the Paris Peace Forum gathered the Prime Minister of Bangladesh, the former president of Niger, and the president of the IsDB to discuss the Decade of Action. Dr. Al Jasser mentioned the GPI as one of the ways the Bank is encouraging and supporting partners to do more on Triangular Co-operation.

[Webinar] Triangular Cooperation Models: Reflection from Ibero-America on its heterogeneity and flexibility
PIFCSS gathered on 26 October 2021 key stakeholders from Ibero-america and also other regions to contribute to a greater understanding of the main characteristics and operational frameworks of triangular co-operation. The GPI focal point and a handful of GPI members participated on the two sessions of the event.

[Webinar] Momento ADELANTE: Triangular cooperation and combating the effects of COVID-19
ADELANTE 2 hosted on 20 October 2021 the first Momentos ADELANTE, in collaboration with the German Cooperation Agency (GIZ). Maria Elena Alcaraz, Coordinator of International Forums for Development of AMEXCID and GPI core group member, represented the GPI during the event. She focused on sharing the lessons learned that were featured in the recent publication "Leveraging triangular partnerships to respond to COVID-19 and build back better from the pandemic".

The Global Partnership Initiative on Effective Triangular Co-operation is a platform to advocate for and promote effective triangular cooperation in support of the 2030 Agenda. These objectives are advanced by members through the (1) Advocacy Work stream, which has elaborated a set of Voluntary Guidelines for Effective Triangular Co-operation and a contemporary understanding; (2) Analytical Work stream, which has collected and analysed more than 100 case studies from GPI members and produced reports on these and other findings; and, (3) Operational Work stream, which is creating spaces to share lessons learned on implementing effective triangular co-operation in a consistent and consolidated manner.
